But Wait, what about..

The snowflakes that don't fit in anywhere else nice and neatly. These are the kitchen junk drawer residents of the supernatural world(tm). The Phoenix that burns too brightly, or the Mythical Creature of any pantheon (Y'know, angels and demons, Minotaurs, Wyverns and dragons...)

....you still can't be a sparkly vampire.

Myths, Legends, and Folklore

Lord, where do we start.

Sometimes, you just want to be a snowflake. We get that.  There's always this concept you've been wanting to play and every sim that opens you hope against hope that you can play it but.. .damn, nope, they're not taking those kinds of characters.  We really hope that between the very flexible storyworld and our  "main" racial pages along with the ability to make your own stuff up, you were able to see your character and how they fit.  But if you didn't, and what you want is more along the lines of angels and demons and mythical creatures that don't fit into those neat little "traditional" supernatural races, then hopefully you will find your home here. Do we want you to be your best snowflake self? Yes. Am I going to map out 500 possible directions and power combinations to make sure you can? No.  We don't want apps, we don't want overhead, we all just wanna play. As with all things, please be reasonable and not That Guy/Girl(tm) who wants a little bit from every single column and can't compromise.

We still aren't going to let you play a God, a Demi-God, or any sort of all powerful, Omniscient being that can sneeze and blast San Francisco off the map.  No Destiny determining, Fate changing overseers. Nope. Not gonna do it.

So a couple rules:

1. See above, and pretty much everywhere else on this site, no Gods or Demi-Gods or Omniscient beings.

2. Don't claim Mythic because the type of character you want is so far down the niche path that you just can't fit into the vampires, even though she's a vampire, but she eats sunlight and poops rainbows through Faerie. Yea, no.

3. You cannot be a Hybrid with a Mythic. Any sort of mythic type of stuff... and you're Mythic. Done.

So you know the drill: Balance out your character.  Don't take all the talents but have none of the weaknesses.  NO ONE likes a Mary Sue. Even if his name is Frederick the Fabulous.

Becoming a Mythic: Uh. Yea, so right off the bat this is completely open.  How you became an Angel is going to be totally different to how you became a Djinn or a Phoenix. Not even going to speculate. You tell us how you became you and if for some reason we get another one of 'you', we can coordinate at that point.

Age, Ability, and Talents:  I think this one is going to be pretty self explanatory as well. The older you are, the better you are at your abilities and talents.  I think this one gets a little squishy when we start thinking about those truly mythic millennia creatures who existed before creation kinda pantheon things.  So lets just figure it out together.

Local Collectives: No such thing. None at all.  By default, the mythical creatures which are so few and far between tend to stay on their own and undetected. Watching from their vantage points of being so rare that not everyone has even heard of them, let alone met one, let alone seen one.  If they do band together at all, they are trying to fit in with another race that they can pass for, generally. That said, they will tend to- in a very saying without saying, up-lift head tilt, acknowledge one another with a "I see you. Check." The closest they usually get to is banding together over coffee to share information amongst each other about the other races in a town. Think of it as a stitch-n-bitch. "So I says to her, I says, I'm sorry, I don't mean to hurt your feelings, but its not a normal baby."

Leadership:  Like the collectives above, there is no one leader for the scattered mythical tribes.  Oh sure, sometimes an individual mythic will raise in status to Cult Leader, Television Icon, or Influencer... but worship is different than leadership and no way in hell a choir of Seraphim are going to listen to a Foul smelling Minotaur on anything.

General Abilities

All of these are considered the general abilities of a Mythic creature. You can probably do most of these but some just wont make sense for you.  You do not HAVE to be able to do any of them. If you want your character to be very young and still learning, or just not a very good,  or not be aware you can do some things by nature of how you were created or orphaned, you are not required to know how to do them.

Special Note: Ignorance of your abilities does not give you license to create complete havoc and ruin other people's RP.  Behaving ICly in a destructive manner will likely get you hunted and killed.  You cannot nope out of consequences.

  • Speed: This will vary depending on your size and whether you have different forms. In general, you can probably outrun a human but be on par with other supernaturals.

  • Strength: This will vary depending on your size and forms. Just like Speed, you can pretty much guess you're stronger than the average human.

  • Self-Healing: You heal 10X as fast as the average human, no matter the form.

  • Flight: Only those with wings can fly. Angels, Demons, Phoenix, Wyvern, Dragons, Gargoyles, Hippogryphs.. if you don't have wings, you cannot fly.

  • Elemental Manipulation: Just about every mythical creature has an element they are more attuned to or are associated with. It is your "signature" in a way. You may manipulate it with ease. No, you still can't manipulate a person because they're 80% water. A phoenix shouldn't pick Earth- that would be silly- but as long as it makes sense, go for it.

  • If You Believe, Clap Your Hands: Belief and faith are extremely powerful.  While the Angels and Demons know this all too well, other mythical pantheons are only really coming to understand this in the last couple thousand years.  As faith and belief in the fantastical waned, so did your powers. With the rise of fantasy and mythology again into the world of "fiction", new believers are a dime a dozen. Everything from the little girl who dreams of riding a Hippogryph to fanatical bible thumper- they fuel your ability. All of this background to basically say: if you have common believers or followers, you get a power boost during festival seasons or holidays that feature you. Similarly, every year when they play the Harry Potter marathon on TV, Hippogryphs rejoice.

  • Followers: You have a specific follower, or followers, that give you gogo juice. You can feed off of them. You can inspire them. They can be anything from a knowing servant to an unknowing groupie.  They can be human, supernatural, doesn't matter. Unlike marked humans by Vampires or Faeries, these blind dupes don't get any perks... other'n maybe you notice them (senpai!), right? How is this helpful?

  • Hideout: You have your own fortress of solitude or some kind of location where you can retire and be completely safe. Hunters can not penetrate your lair unless you are stupid enough to bring them in yourself.

  • Hidden Mists: All mystical creatures can hide who they are and appear human when they want to do so. Unless you can't, of course.

General Weaknesses

Below are some general weaknesses that could end up part of a Mythic's personality. Like the other sections, some of these may not fit at all so be reasonable as to what you take or don't.

  • Nobody Loves Me: You have fallen completely out of favor- time- space- and belief. You have no followers, no one believes you're real anymore, and your grip is finally starting to wane.  This is perfect for the older character that has been around, has seen some shit, and is tired. So very tired. Probably has a lot to offer if only they'd listen.  You have lost all of your abilities and Talents and are starting to age. But you're still a mythic and you still have a Hideout. Note: If you take this weakness, you cannot take any Talents and the only Ability you still have is Hideout. This can change in character after creation via Storyteller participation. Let's chat!

  • Now You See Me: Whether you were cursed or just never learned how- or maybe you've forgotten how because its been too long- you aren't able to hide your true form any longer. Now that the supernaturals are 'out' and all, it may be safe to come down out of the mountain cave. Maybe.

  • Diurnal or Nocturnal: The nature of your being is that you can only be out during one phase: Day or Night. Whether you're a Gargoyle that turns to stone or a Minotaur that hasn't seen sunlight in so long, it would kill you, or maybe you're just generally cursed.

Available Talents

Below are some of the more common talents that  many different mythics may have available to them.  You may choose a couple of these to have in addition to the abilities all are able to do.  Again- be reasonable. Don't take them all.   Also, if you think of a really cool talent that I didn't list, ask!

  • Poisoned Bite / Claws: Your claws, bite, horn-tips, talons, tail... whatever it is that's really sharp and pointy and meant for harm is also poisonous.

  • Poisoned Blood: Your actual blood is poisonous to Vampires. You do not have to disclose this prior to a vampire biting you, however, the vampire does get the option to be able to taste it immediately and/or resist- plus, y'know, they're probably going to be pretty pissed so no noping out of consequences if you let them bite you without warning them.

  • Hypnotic Voice: Your voice allows you to be incredibly persuasive against the weak willed.  Humans have little chance of being able to resist (though they always can try, see: Consent) but other supernatural creatures always have a chance to resist it.  Please work with your RP Partner.

  • Hypnotic Gaze: If you're able to get the direct gaze of another creature, you become incredibly persuasive.  Just like Hypnotic voice, humans are more susceptible than other supernaturals, but all are allowed to resist. Please work with your RP Partner on outcome.
